Fabric pattern inspiration comes in many forms for me, but probably the most important is through my art. I remember the first time I showed Mike Farrell my portfolio of work he immediately started pointing at sections of these paintings and asked me to form repeats from them….and with a little bit of help from Aaron Sizemore, and the weaving skills of Evy and Jing and the team at Factory Weavers….the results were fantastic! Here are two examples. Pretty cool, eh?
This one is called ‘Rookery’, which happens to be what a group of penguins is called!
And this one is a painting I did of a jazz trio in Montreal…hence the name of the fabric is ‘Jazz Trio’.
